K is for Kitchen

This week we are working on the letter K and continuing our work with shapes. Talk about your kitchen with your child and things that are in it. You can have them practice counting by counting windows, cabinet doors, handles, chairs, legs of the table, etc.

Shapes Are All Around!

This week we are beginning to learn about the shapes and their relationships to each other. An easy way to practice this skill is to ask your child to name the shapes you see around you at home (a square window, a rectangle door, a circle or oval table, a triangle piece of pizza). We will also discuss cylinders, cones, spheres, and cubes. We are working on the letter R also.

Have a great Thanksgiving break! While you are celebrating the holiday, you can work on math skills by having your child count people, silverware, glasses, food, etc. You can also ask them to identify the yard line numbers (10-50) if you are watching football.

Friends & Family

This week we are learning the letter F. Since it is so close to Thanksgiving, a great way to practice this sound is to talk about spending time with family and friends (since both words start with f). We just finished the numbers 0-10. Please keep practicing counting and identifying these numbers.
