R is for Railroad

This week we are spotlighting the letter R. There are a lot of words that start with the letter R. An easy way to work on this letter with your child is to look at a railroad crossing sign here in town. Have your child point out the letter R and focus on the "r" sound as you say railroad! We are also working on shapes in math.

F is for Feast

This week we are spotlighting the letter F as in a Thanksgiving feast. We are learning about greater and less in math. You can practice this skill at home by setting out forks and spoons in different quantities and then have your child count them. Ask your child which group has more and which has less. You can use all sorts of things to practice: toys, movies, shoes, etc.

Sssssss

This week we are spotlighting the letter S. A great way to work on this sound is to give your child a word containing the "s" sound and ask them to tell you where the s comes: at the beginning or the end. Some words you can use are snake, hiss, boots, snow, supper, plates, etc. Just to be tricky, try the word spoons!
