A Week of Celebrations
We have a very busy week...Monday is the 100th day of school, Wednesday is Groundhog Day, and Thursday is the Chinese New Year. We will be learning about each of these days so please ask your child to share with you about them. We are working on the letter Y this week and are continuing to study longer/shorter, larger/smaller, etc.

Small, Medium, Large
This week we are learning the final vowel Ee. We now know all of the short sounds and are practicing very hard at reading. We started comparisons in math today. An easy way to work on this skill is to lay out some of your child's toys and have him/her put them in order from smallest to largest, longest to shortest, etc. They can also do this with silverware at the dinner table.

C or K?
This week we are learning the letter C which sounds like the letter K. To know which letter to use at the beginning of a word, we are learning the following poem: "C comes before i and e. K comes before the other 3 (a, o, u)." Please practice this poem this week!

Buzzzzzz
This week we are focusing on the letter Z. Acting like a bumble bee is a great way to practice this sound. We are continuing with ordinal numbers (1st, 2nd, etc.). I just want to say that I really enjoy your children in class. They are so bright and funny!

Happy New Year!
Welcome back to school! We are beginning to work with ordinal numbers in math. An easy way to work on this skill at home is to line up a row of toys and ask which toy is 1st, 4th, 6th, 2nd, etc. We are also learning the letter U this week.
