1, 2, 3

This week in math we are finishing patterns and moving on to the numbers 0-5. To work on this skill, have your child count things at supper: how many forks, spoons, plates, people, etc. We will also be focusing on the letter P. The Dr. Seuss book "Hop on Pop" is great for this since the p sound appears throughout the book at both the beginning and end of the words.

Give me a T

This week we are focusing on the letter T and the sound that it makes. Since we are the Guymon Tigers, a tiger would be a great way to work on that letter and sound (a tiger also has a pattern on its fur). Take your child out to the football game Friday night and see our tiger!

Patterns, Patterns, Everywhere!

This week in math we are beginning patterns. Help your child understand patterns by pointing out dots on shirts, the order of colors for a stoplight, or the stripes on a flag. We are also studying the letter H and its sound as well as reading books about ourselves!

G for Guymon

This week we will be working on the letter G. When you are driving around Guymon this week, point out the letter G to your child. A great way to do this is to show your child the water tower and there are a lot of businesses that start with Guymon. We are also working on positions in math (over, under, on, in, out, left, right). You can make a game with your child by having them place a stuffed animal "on" the table, "under" the table, to the "left" or "right" of the table, etc.
